About Me
I am a qualified counsellor based in Dudley in the West Midlands and I am passionate about the work that I do and supporting clients through difficult times. I am a registered member of the BACP - the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. As a member I abide by the ethical standards set out by the organisation which ensures that I work ethically, safely and with your best interests at heart at all times.
I am an integrative counsellor with the person centered modality as my core model ensuring a non-judgmental, empathic, warm and honest therapeutic space resulting in a relationship that is built on feelings of trust, respect, safety, and knowing that you have been truly heard and understood from your perspective. This model puts you at the heart of the work we do, it is your journey and you direct its course, whilst I walk alongside you, offering support and shining a light on areas that may be currently out of awareness.
As an integrative counsellor, I may discuss with you the fact that sometimes, alongside the therapeutic relationship, our work could be enhanced or taken deeper by drawing on other approaches or tools and together we could explore how you felt about using them. I particularly draw on the theories of both existentialism and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) in which I am currently undertaking advanced training.
I continually keep up to date with my professional development by attending regular training events and seminars which ensures that I work in the most effective and productive way in order to support you. I am also qualified to teach counselling up to level 4.
I have a special interest in working with trauma and historic trauma (unprocessed from childhood or CPTSD) and I have worked with clients who have, after many years of emotional pain, fear, and struggle in everyday life found acceptance, healing and empowerment, finally moving their lives forward in the direction that they want to.
I, myself, am no stranger to therapy and the great benefits it can bring. From personal experience i know it works. It is this knowledge that drives me to provide the most effective therapy, in order to help others reach their full potential and live the life they deserve.
